"Mommy, do we only listen to 89.7?" Bradley inquired behind me.
"Well, yes we do listen to 89.7 most of the time. Why?"
"What do the other stations play? You know like the one that says 96 or the one that says 102?"
Going with it, I touched the screen on the van radio and changed it to 96.7 to which the following came:
Holiday. Celebrate. If we took a holiday. Took some time to celebrate.......Madonna
Giggles erupted from Bradley and Tori. Of course, I'm sure the fact that I knew the words and started singing we part of it.
"What about the next one 102.3?"
So I touched the screen again. This time....the Rolling Stones. If you start me up, if you start me I'll never stop.
More giggles.
"What? This is the Stones. Your grandpop likes the Rolling Stones." I informed them.
So I switched it once again since I was having a blast over their reactions.
Kiss me out of the bearded barley. Nightly. Beside the green, green grass. Swing, swing, swing the spinning step. You wear those shoes and I will wear that dress......Sixpence None the Richer
"Oooohhhh gross," giggled Tori.
And so our morning went. A nice break and some laughter.
This afternoon, I probably pushed my luck just a bit though. Bradley asked if he could choose the song and then suggested Sponge Bob. NOT! But I did change the station and got to share the end of Rod Stewart's Forever Young and then all of Bon Jovi's You Give Love a Bad Name before I heard the following.
"Mom, can you please put it back on 89.7?"
"Why?"
"Because those songs are all about God and Jesus."
So the rest of the ride home we listened to 89.7 and as luck would have it, just as I turned the station back we got to enjoy a new song and how fitting since we love the beach and light houses. Knowing that for me, the closest I feel to God is at the beach and He is the light!
Our new song: My Lighthouse by Rend Collective
